Features

Everything your team needs to stay in touch

Familiar, simple messaging, designed around how the Service works: commands, formations and official channels.

Private and group chats

Message a colleague directly or bring a whole team, unit or task force together in one conversation.

  • One-to-one and group conversations
  • Everyone in a group can see who is in it and who the admins are
  • Group admins add or remove officers by Service Number
  • Read receipts, replies and reactions
  • Search your conversations
  • Block or report misuse

Never miss a message or a call

Notifications arrive straight away, even when your phone is locked or the app is closed.

  • Tap a message notification to open that chat
  • Group messages show the group's name and who sent them
  • Incoming calls ring full screen with Answer and Decline
  • On first launch, the app asks for notifications, camera, microphone and location

Official channels and announcements

Headquarters and commands reach the right officers directly, without forwarding chains.

  • Channels for directorates, zones and commands
  • Service-wide announcements from administrators
  • Clearly marked as official, separate from chats

Find any colleague in the directory

Look up officers by name, Service Number, rank or command and start a conversation in one tap.

  • Rank, command and unit on every profile
  • Only verified officers appear
  • Protected against bulk copying

Photos and documents

Share pictures, PDFs and files. They are stored privately and only the people in the conversation can open them.

Voice and video calls

Call a colleague or a whole group from a chat. Calls ring on their phone even when the app is closed.

Light on data

Messages are small and quick to send, so NISconnect keeps working on slower mobile networks.

React, edit and pin

React to a message, correct one you sent, pin what matters and forward it to another chat.

On all your devices

Use the Android app, add NISconnect to your iPhone Home Screen, or sign in from any computer browser.

PIN and fingerprint

Unlock with your PIN or your phone's fingerprint or face recognition.

Traceable screenshots

Every screen carries a faint watermark with the officer's Service Number, discouraging leaks.

Light and dark themes

Comfortable to read by day and on night duty, with wallpapers for your chats.

Always up to date

The Android app tells you when a new version is ready. Tap Update and keep your chats.

Security

Built for official communication

NISconnect is run by the Service, for the Service. Only verified personnel get in, and every administrative action leaves a record.

Service Number verification

Each account is checked against NIS personnel records before it is created. Retired or suspended officers cannot sign in.

Protected sign-in

A personal PIN, a one-time code when you register, and accounts that lock after repeated wrong attempts.

Device control

See every device signed in to your account and sign out a lost phone at once.

Encrypted connections

All traffic travels over HTTPS, and files are kept in private storage, never on public links.

Audited administration

Administrators sign in with two-factor authentication, and their actions are recorded in a permanent audit log.

Privacy by design

No advertising and no tracking. Message content is never written to logs.

NISconnect is for official use by authorised personnel. Use it in line with Service regulations on the handling of official information.

Help

Frequently asked questions

Who can use NISconnect?

Serving officers and personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service whose Service Number is on the authorised personnel records. Accounts cannot be created for anyone else.

My Service Number is not recognised. What should I do?

Check that you entered it exactly as on your record, including any leading zeroes. If it is still not found, ask your command's NISconnect administrator to confirm your record is listed and active.

Is the Android app on the Google Play Store?

Not yet. Download it from this website, which is the official source. Only install NISconnect from apps.immigration.gov.ng.

Why does the app ask for permissions?

The first time you open NISconnect it asks once for notifications (so messages and calls reach you), the camera and microphone (calls, photos and voice notes) and your location (to share where you are when you choose to). You can change these at any time in your phone's settings.

I am not getting notifications.

Update to the latest version, then check that notifications are allowed for NISconnect in your phone's settings. On some phones, also turn off battery saving for NISconnect so messages and calls are not delayed.

How do I see who is in a group?

Open the group chat and tap its name at the top, or tap the information icon next to the group in the Groups tab. Every member can see the full list. Group admins can also add and remove officers there.

I forgot my PIN or lost my phone.

Contact your NISconnect administrator. They can reset your PIN and sign out the lost device so nobody else can use it. You can then sign in on your new phone.

Can I use NISconnect on more than one device?

Yes. You can sign in on your phone and a computer. Your devices are listed in the app's settings, where you can sign any of them out.

What information may I share on NISconnect?

NISconnect is for official communication. Follow Service regulations on handling official and classified information, as you would for any other channel.
